Nutrition

Every meal is an opportunity to nourish and delight! Our passionate centre cook prepares a rotating menu full of colorful, balanced, and fun foods that kids love and parents can easily recreate at home. From tasty morning teas, satisfying lunches, and afternoon snacks, each meal is designed to be comforting, nutritious, and accessible.

Our child nutrition program emphasizes fresh, seasonal ingredients across all five food groups to support children’s physical and mental development. We carefully plan each menu item to meet recommended nutrition guidelines, ensuring that children receive essential food components and portion sizes they need to thrive. We aim to provide 50% of children’s daily nutritional requirements.

Nutrition Australia

Our meals are created with children’s diverse dietary needs in mind. We work closely with families to accommodate allergies and intolerances, so every child can enjoy a meal that’s both safe and satisfying. From veggie-packed pastas to hearty stir fry dishes and whole grain sandwiches, our menu offers something for every taste while reinforcing a love for wholesome, nourishing food.

Each bite is a blend of taste and goodness that helps children grow strong, happy, and ready for the adventures that each day brings!

Family partnerships

At Sturt Young Learners, we believe that the partnership between families and educators is the foundation for every child’s success. As parents, you want the very best for your child, and we’re here to support you at each milestone throughout the journey. We embrace the philosophy that it takes a village to raise a child and invite you to be an active part of that village.

When you choose Sturt Young Learners, you’re not just enrolling your child in an early learning program—you’re joining a community. We view you as active partners in your child’s journey, working together to create an environment where they feel loved, respected, and supported.

To keep you connected and informed, we provide regular updates through communication folders, newsletters, and parent-teacher meetings and interviews. We also maintain dynamic records of your child’s engagement in our learning programs, which are fully accessible to families. Photographs and occasional video snippets are shared during attendance days, offering a glimpse into your child’s experiences.

We warmly welcome parents, grandparents, and extended family to become part of our learning community. Whether it’s sharing a special skill, cooking alongside the children, joining us on excursions, or special events and cultural celebrations at the centre, your involvement enriches our program and creates lasting memories. By participating, you not only strengthen the bond with your child but also contribute to their learning journey in meaningful and exciting ways.

We are proud to uphold an Open Door Policy, welcoming your input, questions, and ideas. Whether it’s a quick chat, a formal meeting, or feedback on our programs, we’re always here to listen and work together for your child’s success.

Community connections

At Sturt Young Learners, our connections extend beyond families to the wider community, enriching our program and fostering meaningful relationships. We welcome volunteers, including retirees, who generously share their time and skills with our children.

Our partnerships also support people navigating disabilities as they prepare to re-enter the workforce, offering inclusive opportunities within our centre. We collaborate with local schools on mentorship programs, enjoy performances from community groups, and engage with nearby aged care facilities, creating intergenerational connections. Additionally, we work with the local council, library, and host work experience placements for university and TAFE students, contributing to their professional growth while enhancing our vibrant learning community.
